“Take Off” Paper, Cardboard, 2008.

This puzzle piece forces a relationship between the astronaut love triangle scandal and a simple comic.  The piece had to be put together by the observer such that the images could be seen clearly.  The two images bring attention to the juxtaposition of the severity and importance of space travel and the comedy and silliness of the scandal.  Just because space travel is important doesn’t mean that the people involved need to be stripped of their privacy.  I want to make light of the fact that the news of the scandal is unnecessary when there are so many more important things that the public and the media should focus on.  These sorts of issues happen all the time and are not news-worthy.
